YAPC: Yet Another Perl Conference

YAPC (Yet Another Perl Conference) North America is an annual conference for Perl programming language professionals and enthusiasts.

Attendees include IT professionals of every stripe (application programmers, DBAs, web developers), technical managers, and business decision-makers. The conference is an opportunity for networking and sharing of ideas and solutions, with three days of technical presentations, social events, and discussions with many of the core developers of Perl.

The Perl Foundation

The Perl Foundation (TPF) is a collection of volunteers operating a not-for-profit American corporation (registered with its headquarters in Holland, Michigan) that owns the trademark to YAPC. In July of 2004 it put forward a call for venue proposals among the umbrella organization for Perl user groups worldwide, The Perl Mongers. Local Perl Monger groups across North America bid for the right to hold the conference and the Toronto Perl Mongers won the bid.

YAPC NA 2005

YAPC NA 2005 expects to attract 400-500 attendees from all over North America and the world. The conference location will be 89 Chestnut Street, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, M5G 1R1. The conference centre's website is http://89chestnut.com/

Sponsorship and Support

Sponsorship of YAPC includes a number of benefits for companies.

  1. Recognition of sponsorship on the YAPC::NA 2005 and The Perl Foundation web sites, which are permanently archived on the Web;

  2. The inclusion of printed materials, provided by the Sponsor, in the YAPC::NA 2005 conference materials package;

  3. Recognition as a sponsor of the conference by the conference organizers at all suitable opportunities within and outside of the conference, such as the opening session and final assembly.

  4. Additional, specific or different considerations on a request basis.

Sponsor Tables

The main hallway of the conference building is large, so we can provide space to set up tables. If you would like to send representatives to talk to attendees, please contact us to discuss arrangements.

What forms might Sponsorship take?

Sponsorship can take many forms, such as:

  • Direct financial donations;

  • Sponsorship of a meal at the conference (lunch or dinner);

  • Donation of products or services for our auction;

  • Help with a conference expense (we have many, so contact us for details);

  • Major sponsorships can qualify for special recognition.

Sponsored T-Shirt

We particularly seek a sponsor for a conference T-shirt, which has been designed to have space for a sponsor's logo along with the logo we have chosen for this year's conference. T-shirt sponsors will have the benefit of being permanently associated with the conference, as many attenders wear their perl conference T-shirts at work as well as at future perl conferences.

Questions and Answers

    Where does the money go?

All money donated through YAPC goes to the The Perl Foundation (http://www.perlfoundation.org/), a US non-profit corporation dedicated to the advancement of the Perl programming language through open discussion, collaboration, design, and code. The Perl Foundation coordinates the efforts of numerous grass-roots Perl-based groups including International Yet Another Perl Conferences, and Perl Mongers. The Perl Foundation is based in Holland, Michigan.

    Is the contribution tax deductible?

The Perl Foundation is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation, so all donations are tax deductible under US tax law. Please contact us if you need specific information.
